Nail it

I've been a fan of nail foils for ages now and finally got my hands (or should I say nails) on a few sets! A dear friend sent some over to me from the UK and I was one excited lady when I tried them out.

Foils are really easy to use. They come with instructions, but to sum up:
Manicure you nails to begin with.
Cut the foil close to the shape of your nail, then peel it from the plasic backing and stick it to your nail.
Smooth the foil down in all directions.
For the best results use some heat (eg a hair dryer on low heat) to really smooth the foil down.
Fold any excess foil down over the edge of your nail and file away.
There you go, super hot nails!

At the moment I'm rocking a fun metalic gold, and I cant wait to try out polka dots and mini silver skull and cross bones.

There are so many fun patterns out there that you can literally go wild.

Foils have been worn by many celebrities including Katy Perry, Beyonce and Lady Gaga.

Tales of a snow-filled week.

I could hardly believe it when I got a txt on Sunday night telling me I should come home ASAP as it was beginning to snow. I didn't heed this advice and ended up arriving home later that night in a borrowed 4WD as the roads quickly became too dangerous to drive on. Cars were pulled over along every curb as people had been forced to abandon their effort to drive and continue home on foot. All this on the streets on Johnsonville, Wellington!

Having never lived somewhere where it snowed before, I was ecstatic. It doesn't get much more exciting than coming home and having a snowball fight in your backyard.

The next day, the snow continued to fall and the hills by our house were filled with people in search of adventure. Snowboards were pulled out, along with boogy boards, rubbish bags and anything else that could be used to slide down a snow covered hill.

Being as high up in the hills of Jville as we are, we were basically snowed in. The fire was crackling 24/7, hot soup was on the menu, and I watched my wardrobe begin to dwindle as I ventured outside in item after item, returning soaking wet but still smiling after being dominated in yet another snowball fight.

Snow adventures abounded until Tuesday afternoon rolled around and the rain began to fall, the ice on the roads began to melt, and life began to go back to normal.

(Please excuse the quality of my photos - they are just from my phone!)

Midi Town

Vogue UK, August 2011.
Photographer: Lachlan Bailey
Model: Arizona Muse

Stunning editorial that I just had to share. I love everything about the styling, from the chunky gold necklace to the cable knit jumper. The contrast between the black & white and colour images is so beautiful.

Fun fact about model Arizona Muse: the beautiful Arizona somehow manages to juggle her modelling career while being a Mum. The 22-year-old face of YSL has a young son, yet was still able to walk for big names like Chanel, Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton in the Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 shows. What a lady!

Stockholm Street Style

When I need to be inspired, one of my favourite blogs to browse is StockholmStreetStyle. The street fashion documented here is always fresh, creative and original.

Take a peek at these images - they are some of my faves from the streets of Stockholm/Paris/other exciting places I can't wait to travel to one day.
